Description
Capsule: Each capsule contains: Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) 20 mg, Thiamine mononitrate (Vitamin B1) 10 mg, Pyridoxine HCl (Vitamin B6) 5 mg, Riboflavin phosphate (Vitamin B2) 1.8 mg, Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) 6 mcg, Iron (equivalent to 140 mg Ferrous sulfate) 42 mg, L-Lysine HCl 300 mg, Buclizine HCl 25 mg.
Syrup: Each 5mL (1 teaspoonful) contains: Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) 20 mg, Thiamine HCl (Vitamin B1) 10 mg, Pyridoxine HCl (Vitamin B6) 5 mg, Riboflavin sodium phosphate (Vitamin B2) 1.4 mg, Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) 5 mcg, Iron (equivalent to 50 mg Ferrous sulfate) 10 mg, L-Lysine HCl 100 mg, Buclizine HCl 5 mg.
Indications/Uses
It is primarily used in the prevention and treatment of Iron Deficiency Anemia in children and in adults. Iron-deficiency can lead to decreased production of hemoglobin and a microcytic, hypochromic anemia. It also stimulates appetite and enhances weight gain with supplementary essential vitamins which may be used for the treatment of anorexia nervosa and malnutrition. It is also used for convalescence and recovery in post-operative conditions and body weakness due to illness.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Capsule: Take one capsule twice a day, dosage may be increased depending on patient's needs or as prescribed by the physician. Iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals). This medication may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs.
Syrup: 2-6 yrs. old: 5 mL (1 teaspoonful).
7-12 yrs. old: 10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls).
Above 12 yrs. old: 15 mL (1 tablespoonful).
To be taken daily or as prescribed by the physician. Iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after meals). This medication may be taken with food if stomach upset occurs.
Contraindications
For patients with history of hypersensitivity to the components. Use cautiously in long-term therapy. Not given to patients receiving regular blood transfusions, peptic ulceration, regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, hemochromatosis, and hemolytic anemia.
Adverse Reactions
GI tract (nausea, epigastric pain, vomiting, constipation, black tarry stools, diarrhea, drowsiness), dulling of mental alertness, dry mouth, headache and tiredness.
Drug Interactions
Vitamins: High dose of calcium and phosphorus containing compounds, drugs with same content to avoid overdose, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anticoagulants, insulin, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, milk and levodopa.
Ferrous sulfate: Antacids, chloramphenicol, levodopa, levothyroxine, penicillamine, quinolones, cefdinir, dimercaprol, Histamine H2 receptor antagonists, proton pump inhibitors, tetracycline, and dairy products.
Buclizine HCl: CNS depressants, alcohol, anticholinergics, apomorphine and antihistamine.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light.
