Losartan K 50 mg, amlodipine besilate 5 mg
Indications/Uses
Mild to moderate HTN; HTN not responding to monotherapy w/ Ca antagonists or AIIA.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 1 tab once daily. May be increased if BP control is inadequate after a wk or 2.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Symptomatic hypotension may occur after initiation on patients who are intravascularly vol-depleted (eg, treated w/ diuretics). Patients w/ severe obstructive CAD. Patients w/ heart failure. Electrolyte imbalances are common in patients w/ renal impairment (w/ or w/o diabetes). Severe renal disease & impaired hepatic function. May impair ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, fatigue, flushing, palpitation, asthenia.
Drug Interactions
Decreased conc w/ rifampicin. Increased conc w/ fluconazole. Increased serum K w/ K-sparing diuretics, K supplements or K-containing salt substitutes. May reduce lithium excretion. Diminished antihypertensive effect w/ NSAIDS including selective COX-2 inhibitors.
