Vibegron is used to treat symptoms of an overactive bladder (a disorder that causes a sudden or frequent urge to urinate).
This medicine calms and relaxes the bladder. It reduces the number of toilet visits and the urge to urinate.
Take Vibegron exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
You may take this medicine with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. If necessary, the tablet may be crushed and mixed with a spoonful (about 15 mL) of soft food such as applesauce. Take the mixture immediately, followed by a glass of water.
Vibegron must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not take Vibegron if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- difficulty emptying the bladder or weak urine flow
- severe liver disease
- severe kidney disease
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Keep your appointments with your doctor. Your doctor needs to monitor your condition and check your response to the medication regularly. Regular monitoring for signs and symptoms of urinary retention (inability to completely empty the bladder when urinating) may also be needed.
Vibegron may cause any of the following side effects: headache, stuffy or runny nose, nausea, diarrhoea, and constipation.
Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following:
- swelling of the deep layers of the skin usually around the face, throat, and lips
- unable to completely empty the bladder when urinating
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
- other medicines for bladder problems
- digoxin (medicine for heart disease or irregular heartbeat)
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Vibegron.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
