Contents
Per 5 mL Guaiphenesin 50 mg, salbutamol sulfate 1.2 mg
Indications/Uses
Relief of viscosity of tenacious sputum, reduce bronchospasm & airway resistance in asthmatic patients.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 10-20 mL bd-tds. Childn >12 yr 10-20 mL bd, 7-12 yr 10 mL bd, 2-6 yr 5-10 mL bd.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.
Special Precautions
Monitor patient response clinically & by lung function test. Sudden & progressive deterioration in asthma control. Thyrotoxicosis; severe or unstable asthma; diabetic patient. Monitor fluid balance, cardioresp function & ECG in maternal pulmonary oedema & MI patients. Concomitant use w/ corticosteroids in diabetic patients. Pregnancy. Not recommended in lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Skeletal muscle tremors, palpitations, muscle cramps, slight tachycardia, tenseness, headache, peripheral vasodilation, GI discomfort, nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ non-selective β-blocking drugs eg, propranolol. Potentiated vascular effects w/ TCAs or MAOIs.
