Why do I need this medicine?
Nandrolone is used to treat osteoporosis (thinning and weakening of bones) after menopause.

This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.
How do I use this medicine?
Nandrolone injection is to be given intramuscularly (into the muscle), usually into the muscles of the upper arm, thigh or buttocks.

Your doctor or nurse will administer the injection for you.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on the type and severity of your condition and your response to the medication.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Ensure that you keep all appointments with your doctor so that you do not miss any doses. Your doctor also needs to regularly monitor your response to Nandrolone.

If you miss an appointment or miss an injection, alert your doctor or nurse. A replacement appointment or injection should be given as soon as possible.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • kidney problem that causes release of excess protein in the urine
  • heart failure (weakness and inability of the heart to pump blood)
  • porphyria (an inherited disorder that causes skin or nervous system abnormalities)
  • breast or prostate cancer in men
  • liver disease with impaired excretion of bilirubin (a yellowish substance produced when the body breaks down red blood cells)
as Nandrolone may not be suitable for you.

Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby soon. If you become pregnant while being treated with Nandrolone, alert your doctor immediately. This medicine may cause harm to your unborn child. You must use proven birth control methods while receiving Nandrolone.

Do not use this medicine if you are breastfeeding.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • heart disease
  • history of heart attack or narrowing of the blood vessels of the heart
  • diabetes
  • epilepsy (fits or seizures)
  • migraine (severe throbbing pain or pulsating sensation usually affecting one side of the head that is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound)
  • prostate enlargement
  • kidney disease
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Nandrolone to the elderly. Elderly people may be more sensitive to the side effects.

If you are going to have certain laboratory tests (e.g. test for adrenal gland and thyroid gland), inform your doctor that you are using Nandrolone.

Why is it important to keep my appointments with the doctor?

Keep your appointments with your doctor. Your doctor needs to monitor your condition and check your response to the medication regularly.
  • Digital rectal exam and prostate exam must be done before and during treatment to know if this medicine is suited for you to use.
  • Routine tests (e.g. liver function, blood tests, cholesterol and blood or urine calcium levels) may be done while you are being treated with this medicine. Your doctor will advise you about how often you need to have these tests.
  • Regular monitoring of signs of virilisation (a condition wherein women develop characteristics of men, such as facial hair, mild pimples and voice changes) may also be needed.
What side effects could I experience?
Nandrolone may cause any of the following side effects: nausea, itching, swelling of the ankles, feet or hand, increased sex drive, and injection site reactions.

In women, this medicine may also cause deepening of the voice, facial hair changes, and pimples.

Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following:
  • weakness, confusion, tiredness, headache, upset stomach or vomiting, constipation, bone pain
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, dark coloured urine, tiredness
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
  • anti-inflammatory medicines
  • blood-thinning medicines e.g. warfarin
  • medicines for diabetes e.g. insulin
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Nandrolone.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Protect from light.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
