Hypersensitivity to sulphasalazine. Discontinue use at 1st appearance of skin rash, mucosal lesions or any other sign of hypersensitivity; if blood dyscrasias or acute intolerance syndrome is suspected; if renal function deteriorates. Severe cutaneous adverse reactions including DRESS eg, SJS & TEN. Cardiac hypersensitivity reactions (myo- & pericarditis); organic or functional upper GI tract obstruction; chronic lung function impairment especially asthma; increased ICP; pre-existing skin conditions eg, atopic dermatitis & eczema. Monitor renal function prior to & at least twice yrly during treatment. Ensure adequate fluid intake during treatment. Hepatic & mild to moderate renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn & adolescents <18 yr.
