Lipitor Description

10 mg: White, round, film-coated tablets debossed "10" on one side and "ATV" on the other side.
20 mg: White, round, film-coated tablets debossed "20" on one side and "ATV" on the other side.
40 mg: White, round, film-coated tablets debossed "40" on one side and "ATV" on the other side.
80 mg: White, round, film-coated tablets debossed "80" on one side and "ATV" on the other side.
Active Ingredient: crystalline atorvastatin.
The tablets for oral administration contain crystalline atorvastatin calcium equivalent to 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg or 80 mg atorvastatin.
The empirical formula of atorvastatin calcium is (C₃₃H₃₄FN₂O₅)2Ca·3H₂O and its molecular weight is 1209.42.
Atorvastatin calcium is a white to off-white crystalline powder, practically insoluble in aqueous solutions of pH 4 and below. It is very slightly soluble in distilled water, pH 7.4 phosphate buffer, and acetonitrile; slightly soluble in ethanol; and freely soluble in methanol.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Calcium carbonate, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, polysorbate 80, hydroxypropyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, polyethylene glycol 8000, titanium dioxide, talc, simethicone emulsion.
