Indications/Uses

Symptomatic treatment of seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis & urticaria of allergic origin in adults & childn ≥2 yr.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult 10 mg once daily. Initially 5 mg if dose leads to satisfactory symptomatic control. Childn >12 yr 10 mg once daily, 6-12 yr 5 mg bd, 2-6 yr 2.5 mg bd. Renal impairment eGFR 60 to <90 mL/min 10 mg once daily, 30 to <60 mL/min 5 mg once daily, 15 to <30 mL/min not requiring dialysis 5 mg once every 2 days.

Overdosage

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or any piperazine derivatives. ESRD w/ eGFR <15 mL/min.

Special Precautions

Skin reactions eg, pruritus, urticaria. Predisposition factors of urinary retention eg, spinal cord lesion, prostatic hyperplasia; risk of convulsions, epileptic patients. Allow 3-day wash-out period prior to performing allergy skin tests. Concomitant use w/ alcohol. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
