Naproxen Na
Indications/Uses
RA, OA, ankylosing spondylitis. Acute gout. Post-op pain & primary dysmenorrhoea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
RA, OA, ankylosing spondylitis
550 or 825 mg daily in 2 divided doses (morning & evening). Max: 1100 mg daily.
Acute gout
Initially 825 mg, then 275 mg 8 hrly.
Post-op pain & primary dysmenorrhoea
Initially 550 mg, then 275 mg 6-8 hrly. Total max dose: 1375 mg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Asthma syndrome, rhinitis & nasal polyp due to aspirin or other NSAIDs. 3rd trimester of pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
History of GI disease. Liver & kidney dysfunction. 1st trimester of pregnancy. Childn <16 yr. Elderly & debilitated patients.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, oedema, palpitation, tachycardia, nausea, dyspepsia, vomiting, diarrhea, tinnitus, alopecia, angioedema, GI bleeding, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, aplastic anemia, visual disturbances, erythema multiforme, nephrotic syndrome.
