Naproxen Na

Indications/Uses

RA, OA, ankylosing spondylitis. Acute gout. Post-op pain & primary dysmenorrhoea.

Dosage/Direction for Use

RA, OA, ankylosing spondylitis 550 or 825 mg daily in 2 divided doses (morning & evening). Max: 1100 mg daily. Acute gout Initially 825 mg, then 275 mg 8 hrly. Post-op pain & primary dysmenorrhoea Initially 550 mg, then 275 mg 6-8 hrly. Total max dose: 1375 mg daily.

Administration

Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.

Contraindications

Asthma syndrome, rhinitis & nasal polyp due to aspirin or other NSAIDs. 3rd trimester of pregnancy & lactation.

Special Precautions

History of GI disease. Liver & kidney dysfunction. 1st trimester of pregnancy. Childn <16 yr. Elderly & debilitated patients.

Adverse Reactions

Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, oedema, palpitation, tachycardia, nausea, dyspepsia, vomiting, diarrhea, tinnitus, alopecia, angioedema, GI bleeding, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, aplastic anemia, visual disturbances, erythema multiforme, nephrotic syndrome.

Drug Interactions

Acetaminophen, anticoagulants, furosemide, propranolol, β-blockers, probenecid, MTX.
