Contents
Placenta extract, neomycin sulfate.
Description
Each gram of gel contains: Placenta extract 100 mg, Neomycin sulfate 5 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Placenta extract contains biogenic stimulators which have stimulating actions on metabolic processes in the cell. These stimulating effects have been demonstrated in vitro as well as in vivo as an increased oxygen consumption in liver cells, an acceleration in cell regeneration and wound healing.
Neomycin sulfate is the topical antibiotic with an uttermost potency against many strains of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.
Indications/Uses
Viderma is indicated for healing of burn, infected wounds, scalds and skin ulcers.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a sufficient quantity of the gel on the wound surface, 3-5 times daily as required.
Contraindications
Patient with history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of Viderma.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if sensitization occurs.
Use of neomycin sulfate for prolonged periods may result in a secondary infection (e.g., fungal infection).
Do not use Viderma on eyes or skin around the eyes.
This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy or lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Neomycin may cause hypersensitivity reactions. Nephrotoxicity and/or ototoxicity may occur following its use in extensive burns, especially in patients with renal disturbances or when administered concurrently with other nephrotoxic and/or ototoxic drugs.
Drug Interactions
Viderma should not be used with other aminoglycosides or neuromuscular blocker in circumstances where significant systemic absorption could occur (e.g., application to burn or broken skin, use of large quantities or on large areas for prolonged periods).
Storage
Store at temperature below 30°C.
Protect from heat.
After seal is opened, use it within 30 days.
