HTN, heart failure (NYHA class II-IV) in patients intolerant of ACE inhibitors. Post-MI.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN 80 mg once daily, may be increased to 160 mg daily or a diuretic may be added if BP is not adequately controlled. Heart failure Initially 40 mg twice daily. Max: 320 mg daily in divided doses. Post-MI Initially 20 mg twice daily, may be gradually increased to 40 mg, 80 mg, 160 mg twice daily for the further several wk.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe liver damage. Liver cirrhosis. Biliary obstruction. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
May impair ability to drive & operate machinery. Na or vol-depletion, bilateral or unilateral renal artery stenosis, severe kidney dysfunction, liver impairment, heart failure or post-MI. Lactation.
