ASA

Indications/Uses

Prevention of intravascular thrombosis eg, acute MI, unstable angina & transient ischemic cerebral stroke.

Dosage/Direction for Use

1-2 tab once daily.

Administration

Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.

Contraindications

Patients sensitive to aspirin & other NSAIDs. Consult physician in patients w/ asthma, gastric ulcer, had episode/s of petechial rashes, patients on anticoagulant therapy; varicella infection (chickenpox) & symptoms of flu; hemophilia, thrombocytopenia. Lactating mothers. Childn <12 yr.

Special Precautions

Patients w/ active peptic ulcer. Renal or hepatic impairment. Last trimester of pregnancy. Lactation. Childn <12 yr.

Adverse Reactions

GI irritation, nausea, vomiting. Long-term use: GI bleeding, peptic ulcer.
