Co-trimoxazole: Trimethoprim, sulfamethoxazole.
Each Sanprima tablet contains: Co-trimoxazole: Trimethoprim 80 mg, sulfamethoxazole 400 mg.
Each Sanprima syrup contains: Co-trimoxazole: Trimethoprim 40 mg, sulfamethoxazole 200 mg.
Each Sanprima Forte caplet contains: Co-trimoxazole: Trimethoprim 160 mg, sulfamethoxazole 800 mg.
Infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, otitis media.
Tablet: Adult and children >12 years: 2 tablets twice daily. Max: 2 tablets thrice daily.
Syrup: All doses are to be taken twice daily.
Children 6-12 years: 2 teaspoons.
6 months-5 years: 1 teaspoon.
6 weeks-5 months: ½ teaspoon.
Forte caplet: Adult and children >12 years: 1 caplet twice daily. Max: 1 caplet thrice daily.
Severely impaired hepatic or renal function.
Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides.
Blood dyscrasias.
Porphyria.
Pregnancy and lactation.
Infant <2 months.
Patients with folic acid deficiency, poor nutritional status or G6PD deficiency.
Elderly and patients with reduced kidney function.
Gastrointestinal disturbances; Stevens-Johnson syndrome and Lyell's syndrome.
Rarely, hepatitis, blood disorders, pseudomembranous colitis.
Effects reduced by PABA and procaine-type local anesthetics and enhanced by highly-bound drugs.
May potentiate effects of methotrexate, warfarin, sulfonylureas.
