Contents
Magnesium trisilicate, aluminum hydroxide colloidal, simethicone.
Description
Per 5 mL oral suspension: Magnesium trisilicate 325 mg, aluminum hydroxide colloidal 325 mg, simethicone 25 mg.
Indications/Uses
Gastrointestinal hyperacidity, gastritis, gastrointestinal and pyloric spasm, peptic and duodenal ulcer, neurogenic dyspepsia, intestinal hypermotility, flatulence.
Decreases symptoms of gastric hyperacidity eg, nausea, gastric and epigastric pain, flatulence and full sensation in the stomach.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1-2 teaspoons.
Administration: Take 1-2 hours after meals and before bedtime.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Severe renal impairment.
Special Precautions
Possibility of drug dependence, amnesia and increase severity of grand mal seizures; organic brain disease, cardio-respiratory insufficiency, decreased hepatic or renal function, COPD; long term use >2 weeks; hypophosphatemia and osteomalacia.
Pregnancy and lactation.
Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Fatigue, drowsiness, muscle weakness, diarrhea, constipation; nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
May enhance central nervous system depressant effects of alcohol, barbiturates, antihistamines, phenothiazines; phenytoin (potentiation); increased muscle relaxant effect with benzodiazepines and other centrally or peripherally acting muscle relaxants; antacids may slow gastrointestinal absorption; cimetidine and tetracycline.
