Na hyaluronate gel cross-linked by divinyl sulfone, Na hyaluronate fluid (4:1)
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of pain in patients w/ OA or degenerative joint disease causing changes in synovial fluid function.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IA 2 mL single-dose inj into the knee joint. Carefully consider inj interval (>6 mth after the last inj is recommended) according to patient's symptoms.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Do not use in infected or severely inflamed joints or in patients w/ skin diseases or infections in the area or inj site. Patients w/ RA. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Special Precautions
Do not inj intravascularly. Follow aseptic administration technique & standard procedure to prevent cross infection. Do not concomitantly use disinfectants containing quaternary ammon salts for skin prep.
Adverse Reactions
Local reactions at inj site eg, discomfort, transient pain (ie, arthralgia, myalgia), transient increase in joint inflammation right after or w/in 48 hr after inj, joint swelling, joint effusion, redness, warmth around the inj site, bleeding & ecchymosis.
Drug Interactions
Hyaluronic acid can precipitate w/ quaternary ammon salts.
