Acyclovir

Indications/Uses

Herpes simplex viral infection of mucous membranes & skin; genital herpes; initial & recurrent labial herpes.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Apply a thin layer 5 times daily for 5-10 days.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to acyclovir or propylene glycol.

Special Precautions

Should not be used for the eyes. Long-term & widespread use. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.

Adverse Reactions

Burning sensation in genital lesion, erythema & light exfoliation.

Drug Interactions

Increased t_½ w/ probenecid. Drugs that affect renal physiology may interfere w/ acyclovir pharmacokinetics.
