Action

Clindamycin phosphate is hydrolyzed to be the active form of Clindamycin which has antibacterial activity. In-vitro studies indicated that Clindamycin active against Propionibacterium acnes cultures. Free fatty acids on the skin surface are decreased from approximately 14% to 2% following application of Clindamycin.
