Welsan Lipocream Plus Mechanism of Action

Information for use: Oil/water type emulsion cream with gamma-linolenic acid (essential constituent of evening primrose oil) for the care of dry, very dry and slightly irritated skin. It is estimated that 15 to 20 percent of the population suffer from dry skin. The symptoms range from a feeling of tightness and roughness of the skin to flaking, itching, irritating and discomfort, the extreme form of this chain reaction.
The natural skin barrier: In generally biological term, the natural skin barrier of the human body acts as a naturally built defensive system to hurdle up the foreign allergens, bacteria and viruses free from entering the superficial parts of human body.
The natural skin barrier is mostly impaired by the causes of chemical compound contacts like detergent or long term application of corticosteroid creams and one common condition is skin dryness.
The causes of dry skin: A chief cause of dry, cracked skin is often a deficiency of the body's own substances which bind water into the epidermis. In addition the fat metabolism may be disturbed, so that a smaller amount of water can also be more easily evaporated. Tests have shown that when the skin is dry a deficiency of certain lipid acids can often be detected in the body. One fatty acid in particular is of importance to the health of the skin: gamma-linolenic acid.
This is an Omega-6 fatty acid, which not only promotes regeneration of the skin but is also involved in the production and function of the skin barrier. Normally it is produced in the body with the help of an enzyme of linolenic acid, but can also be added to the body by means of external treatments.
The importance of skin care: Regular care of dry skin is crucial, in order to restore and maintain the natural skin barrier function. This should supply the skin with what it is lacking.
In principle a dry skin should be treated twice daily (e.g. in the morning and evening).

Valuable Vitamin E neutralizes the aggressive, free radicals in the skin and is therefore a cell protecting antioxidant.
