Contents
Per 0.5 mL Polysaccharides of Salmonella typhi (Ty2 strain) 25 mcg
Indications/Uses
Protection of adults & childn >2 yr against typhoid fever.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM/SC 0.5 mL single dose. Revaccinate every 3 yr in case of continued exposure to risk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Typhim Vi, formaldehyde, or casein. Postpone vaccination in case of illness w/ high temp.
Special Precautions
Do not administer intravascularly. Does not protect against related bacteria (Salmonella paratyphi A or B) or non-typhoidal salmonella. Caution in patients w/ weakened immune system (eg, HIV infection, concomitant use w/ corticosteroids, cytotoxic medicines, RT or other immunosuppressants); patients w/ haemophilia or those who are easily prone to bruising or bleeding. Use during pregnancy only if necessary. Not indicated in childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Inj site pain, erythema, swelling/oedema, induration; headache (cephalalgia); muscle pain (myalgia); generally feeling unwell; fatigue, asthenia. Fever.
Drug Interactions
Can be administered w/ other vaccines (hepatitis A, yellow fever, diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, rabies, meningitis A + C, hepatitis B) in separate inj sites & separate syringes.
