Instant food & beverage thickener (gum based) for dietary management of patients w/ dysphagia.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Add recommended amount of level scoops of powd into an empty dry glass. Add 200 mL of desired liqd to the glass, stir briskly w/ a whisk or fork until dissolved. Stand for 2 min. Drinkable - mildly thick 2 scoops in 200 mL liqd. Drinkable - moderately thick 4 scoops in 200 mL liqd. Spoonable - extremely thick 6 scoops in 200 mL liqd. 1 leveled scoop = 1.4 g.

Contraindications

Not suitable when enteral nutrition is not permitted eg, in acute GI bleeding, ileus & shock or if swallowing assessment reveals gross pharyngeal dysfunction w/ severe aspiration. Use w/ caution in severe organ failure w/ impaired metabolism & severe forms of malassimilation. Not suitable for patients w/ congenital inability to metabolise nutrients contained in Thick & Easy Clear.

Special Precautions

Use under medical supervision. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition. For oral use only. Not intended to contribute significantly to energy intake. Contains fibre & Na, consider for overall diet. Ensure adequate fluid intake. Do not stir into drinks >70°C. Not suitable for childn <3 yr.
