Fezolinetant - Oral

Why do I need this medicine?
Fezolinetant is used to help reduce moderate to severe hot flushes and night sweats in menopausal women.
How do I take this medicine?
Take Fezolinetant exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

You may take this medicine with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not divide, chew, or crush the tablet.

Fezolinetant must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
If you miss a dose and it is 12 or more hours before the next dose is due, take the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

If it is less than 12 hours before the next dose is due, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • severe kidney problems
  • liver cirrhosis (scarring of the liver)
as Fezolinetant may not be suitable for you.

Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or if you think you are pregnant. If you become pregnant while on Fezolinetant therapy, alert your doctor immediately. This medicine may cause harm to your unborn child.

Women of childbearing potential must use proven birth control methods during Fezolinetant therapy. Birth control medicines containing hormones may not be effective. You may wish to discuss other reliable methods of birth control with your doctor.

Do not take Fezolinetant with certain medicines used to treat depression, irregular or abnormal heartbeat, certain antibiotics and birth control pills. Please see the section "Can I take this with other medicines?" below for more information.
What should I take note of while taking this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • current or history of breast cancer or other tumours
  • epilepsy (fits or seizures)
  • moderate to severe liver disease
  • mild to moderate kidney disease
Let your doctor know if you are breastfeeding.

Your doctor may need to perform blood tests to make sure that your liver function is normal before you take Fezolinetant and thereafter depending on your doctor's advice.
What side effects could I experience?
Fezolinetant may cause any of the following side effects: diarrhoea, stomach pain, difficulty sleeping, and back pain.

If you develop yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, dark coloured urine, tiredness, and swelling in the legs or ankles, stop taking Fezolinetant and inform your doctor immediately. These could be signs of a liver injury.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I take this with other medicines?
Do not take Fezolinetant with the following medicines:
  • mexiletine (medicine for irregular heartbeat)
  • enoxacin (antibiotic)
  • fluvoxamine (medicine to treat depression)
  • birth control pills
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with this medicine.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
