Adult: For the symptomatic relief in patients with cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, urethrocystitis or urethrotrigonitis: 200 mg tid. Alternatively, 100-200 mg 3-4 times daily, may be reduced if symptoms improve. Dosage and treatment recommendations may vary among individual products and between countries (refer to specific product guidelines). Child: ≥12 years Same as adult dose.

Description: Mechanism of Action: Flavoxate, a tertiary amine, has a direct antispasmodic action on smooth muscles, resulting in relief of muscle spasms. It also increases urinary bladder capacity in patients with bladder spasticity. Onset: 55 minutes. Pharmacokinetics: Absorption: Readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Metabolism: Rapidly metabolised mainly into methyl flavone carboxylic acid (MFCA). Excretion: Via urine (approx 50-60% as MFCA).
