Amikacin sulfate

Indications/Uses

Short-term treatment of serious infections.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IM/IV Adult & childn 15 mg/kg/day in 2 divided dose. Neonate & premature infant 10 mg/kg then 15 mg/kg in 2 divided doses. Pseudomonas infections 500 mg 8 hrly. Max: 1.5 g/day for ≤10 days.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

Pregnancy & lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Ototoxicity & nephrotoxicity.

Drug Interactions

Toxicity increased by other ototoxic & nephrotoxic drugs. May potentiate effects of neuromuscular blockers.
