Resp syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine (recombinant, bivalent)

Indications/Uses

Passive protection against lower resp tract disease caused by RSV in infants from birth through 6 mth following maternal immunisation during pregnancy. Active immunisation of individuals ≥18 yr for prevention of lower resp tract disease caused by RSV.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IM Inj into the deltoid region of upper arm. Individuals ≥18 yr Single dose of 0.5 mL. Pregnant woman Single dose of 0.5 mL between 24 & 36 wk of gestation.

Special Precautions

Hypersensitivity & anaphylaxis. Postpone vaccination in individuals suffering from acute febrile illness. May not elicit protective immune response after vaccination. Anxiety-related reactions including vasovagal reactions (syncope), hyperventilation or stress-related reactions. Thrombocytopenia or any coagulation disorder. Immunocompromised individuals including those receiving immunosuppressant therapy. Not to be mixed w/ any other vaccines or medicinal products. Contains polysorbate 80 which may cause hypersensitivity reactions. Pregnant women <24 wk of gestation. Pregnant adolescents & their infants. Childn (from birth to <18 yr).
