Indications/Uses
Reduction of elevated total-C & LDL-C levels in patients w/ homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering treatments (eg, LDL apheresis) in combination w/ atorvastatin or simvastatin. Adjunctive therapy to diet for the reduction of elevated total-C, LDL-C & Apo B in patients w/ primary (heterozygous familial & non-familial) hypercholesterolemia as monotherapy or in combination w/ a statin. Adjunctive therapy to diet for the reduction of elevated total-C, LDL-C, Apo B & non-HDL-C in patients w/ mixed hyperlipidemia in combination w/ fenofibrate. Adjunctive therapy to diet for reduction of elevated sitosterol & campesterol in patients w/ homozygous familial sitosterolemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Recommended dose: 10 mg once daily; used alone, w/ a statin or fenofibrate. Patient w/ chronic kidney disease & estimated GFR <60 mL/min/1.73 m2 Ezetinibe 10 mg & simvastatin 20 mg once daily in the evening. Co-administration w/ bile acid sequestrants Dosing should occur either ≥2 hr before or ≥4 hr after administration of a bile acid sequestrant.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Combination therapy w/ a statin in patients w/ active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation in serum transaminases. Co-administration w/ statin or fenofibrate in woman of childbearing potential; pregnancy & lactation.
