Bupropion HCl

Indications/Uses

Major depressive episodes.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult Initially 150 mg daily as single dose in the morning. May be increased to 300 mg daily, given as 150 mg bd. There should be an interval of at least 8 hr between successive doses. Max: 300 mg/day. Maintenance: ≥6 mth of treatment. Patient w/ severe hepatic cirrhosis Max: 150 mg on alternate days.

Administration

Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not cut/chew/crush.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Seizure disorder. Patients undergoing abrupt discontinuation of alcohol or sedatives. Current treatment w/ other bupropion-containing prep. Current or previous diagnosis of bulimia or anorexia nervosa. Concomitant use w/ MAOIs or w/in 14 days of treatment discontinuation.
