Indications/Uses
Nausea & vomiting induced by cytotoxic chemotherapy in adults & paed patients & RT in adults. Prevention of post-op nausea & vomiting (PONV) in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Emetogenic chemotherapy & RT 8 mg bd 1-2 hr before chemotherapy or RT followed by 8 mg orally every 12 hr for max of 5 days. Highly emetogenic chemotherapy (eg, high-dose cisplatin) 8 mg slow IV immediately before chemotherapy as single dose over the 1st 24 hr; or may be followed by 2 further IV doses of 8 mg 2-4 hr apart or by constant infusion of 1 mg/hr for up to 24 hr. To protect against delayed or prolonged emesis after 24 hr, continue w/ 8 mg orally bd up to 5 days. PONV 16 mg 1 hr prior to anaesth. Adolescent & childn ≥2 yr w/ BSA 0.6-1.2 m2 Chemotherapy-induced nausea & vomiting 5 mg/m2 IV immediately before chemotherapy followed by 4 mg orally 12 hr later. 4 mg orally bd can be continued for up to 5 days after treatment course. Moderate or severe hepatic impairment Max daily dose: 8 mg.
Administration
Swallow whole w/ liqd.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Concomitant use w/ apomorphine.
