Indications/Uses
Steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions for which a corticosteroid is indicated & where superficial bacterial ocular infection or a risk of bacterial ocular infection exists. Chronic anterior uveitis & corneal injury from chemical, radiation or thermal burns or penetration of foreign bodies.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Ophth susp Elderly, adult & adolescent Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac every 4-6 hr. May increase dosage to 1-2 drops every 2 hr during the initial 24-48 hr. Oint Apply approx 1 cm of oint into the conjunctival sac up to tds-qds or use at bedtime in conjunction w/ ophth susp.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Herpes simplex keratitis. Vaccinia, varicella & other viral corneal & conjunctival infections. Mycobacterial ocular infections. Fungal diseases of ocular structures or untreated parasitic eye infections. After uncomplicated removal of a foreign body.
