Hydrocortisone Na succinate
Indications/Uses
Endocrine & non-endocrine disorders (eg, rheumatic & hematologic disorders; collagen, dermatologic, ophth, resp, neoplastic & GI diseases; allergic & edematous states; medical emergencies; tuberculous meningitis w/ subarachnoid or impending block when used concurrently w/ appropriate antituberculous chemotherapy; trichinosis w/ neurologic or myocardial involvement).
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV/IM Individualized dosage. Initially 100 to ≥500 mg over 30 sec to 10 min. May repeat dose at intervals of 2, 4 or 6 hr. Childn & infant Reduce dose but should not be <25 mg daily. Max dose: 15 mg/kg.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Systemic fungal infections. Intrathecal & epidural route of administration. Administration of live or live-attenuated vaccines in patients receiving immunosuppressive doses of corticosteroids.
