Seroquel XR

Schizophrenia. Prevention of relapse in stable schizophrenic patients who have been on Seroquel XR. Manic episodes associated w/ bipolar I disorder; depressive episodes associated w/ bipolar disorder. Prevention of recurrence in maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder as monotherapy or in combination w/ lithium & valproate. Add-on treatment of major depressive episodes in patients w/ major depressive disorder (MDD) who had suboptimal response to antidepressant monotherapy.

Adult Schizophrenia Daily dose of 300 mg (day 1), 600 mg (day 2) & up to 800 mg after day 2. May be adjusted w/in 400-800 mg/day. Manic episodes associated w/ bipolar disorder Administer once daily in the evening. Daily dose of 300 mg (day 1), 600 mg (day 2) & up to 800 mg after day 2. May be adjusted w/in 400-800 mg/day. Depressive episodes associated w/ bipolar disorder Administer once daily in the evening. Titrate as 50 mg (day 1), 100 mg (day 2), 200 mg (day 3) & 300 mg (day 4). May be titrated to 400 mg (day 5) & up to 600 mg (day 8). Recurrence prevention Generally continued on the same dose on which patients were stabilised. May be re-adjusted to 300-800 mg daily depending on individual patient's clinical response & tolerability. Add-on treatment for MDD Administer once daily in the evening. Daily dose of 50 mg (days 1 & 2) & 150 mg (days 3 & 4). Renal & hepatic impairment Start w/ 50 mg/day. Dose should be increased in increments of 50 mg/day to an effective dose. Elderly Start w/ 50 mg/day. Dose should be increased in increments of 50 mg/day to an effective dose. MDD Initially 50 mg on days 1-3; may be increased to 100 mg (day 4), 150 mg (day 8) & up to 300 mg.

May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not split/chew/crush.
