Seroquel

Schizophrenia. Acute manic episodes associated w/ bipolar I disorder. Depressive episodes associated w/ bipolar disorder. Preventing recurrence in maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder (manic, mixed or depressive episode) as monotherapy or in combination w/ lithium or valproate.

Adult Schizophrenia Total daily dose for 1st 4 days of therapy is 50 mg (day 1), 100 mg (day 2), 200 mg (day 3) & 300 mg (day 4). From day 4 onwards, titrate to the usual effective dose range of 300-450 mg/day. Depending on the clinical response & tolerability of the individual patient, the dose may be adjusted w/in the range 150-750 mg/day. Manic episodes associated w/ bipolar disorder Monotherapy or adjunct therapy to mood stabilizers, total daily dose for 1st 4 days of therapy is 100 mg (day 1), 200 mg (day 2), 300 mg (day 3) & 400 mg (day 4). Further dosage adjustments up to 800 mg/day by day 6 should be in increments of not >200 mg/day. Usual effective dose range: 400-800 mg/day. Depressive episodes associated w/ bipolar disorder 50 mg (day 1), 100 mg (day 2), 200 mg (day 3) & 300 mg (day 4), can be titrated to 400 mg on day 5 & up to 600 mg by day 8. Preventing recurrence in maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder Dose can be re-adjusted depending on clinical response & tolerability of individual patient w/in dose range of 400-800 mg/day. Renal/hepatic impairment & in the elderly Initially 25 mg/day, increase dose daily in increments of 25-50 mg to an effective dose.

May be taken with or without food.
