Live, oral pentavalent rotavirus vaccine
Indications/Uses
Prevention of severe rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants & childn.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Vaccination series: 3 doses administered orally to infants. 1st dose should be administered at 6-12 wk of age; subsequent doses should be given at a min interval of 4 wk; 3rd dose should not be given after 32 wk of age.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Gently squeeze liqd into infant's mouth toward the inner cheek until dosing tube is empty.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity; individuals who develop symptoms suggestive of hypersensitivity after receiving a dose should not receive further doses. Postpone vaccination in subjects suffering from acute diarrhea or vomiting. Subjects w/ congenital malformations of GIT. Known or suspected immunodeficiency; not recommended to administer in asymptomatic HIV subjects. Severe combined immunodeficiency disease. Previous history of intussusception.
