Carbocisteine
Indications/Uses
Adult syr: Adults >15 yr who have had recent resp disorders w/ difficulty expectorating. Childn syr: Patients w/ congestion of lung airways. To make phlegm more fluid, thus making it easier to cough up.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult syr Adult >15 yr 15 mL (750 mg) tds. Max duration of treatment: 5 days. Childn syr Childn >5 yr 5 mL tds, 2-5 yr 5 mL bd. Max duration of treatment: 8-10 days.
Administration
Adult syr: Should be taken on an empty stomach.. Childn syr: May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to carbocisteine or methyl parahydroxybenzoate. Stomach or intestinal ulcer. Childn syr: Childn <2 yr, as bronchial congestion may become worse.
