Conjugated estrogens
Indications/Uses
Moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated w/ estrogen deficiency. Prevention & management of osteoporosis associated w/ estrogen deficiency. Atrophic vaginitis & urethritis. Female hypoestrogenism.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administer the lowest effective dose. Vasomotor symptoms; atrophic vaginitis & urethritis associated w/ estrogen deficiency 0.3-1.25 mg daily. Osteoporosis 0.3-0.625 mg daily. Female hypoestrogenism 0.3-1.25 mg daily, administer cyclically (eg, 3 wk on & 1 wk off) & adjust depending on severity of symptoms & endometrial responsiveness.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not divide/crush/chew/dissolve.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Known, suspected or history of breast cancer. Known or suspected estrogen-dependent neoplasia (eg, endometrial cancer or hyperplasia). Undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding. Active or history of arterial thromboembolic disease (eg, stroke, MI) or VTE (eg, DVT, pulmonary embolism). Known thrombophilic disorders (eg, protein C or S, or antithrombin deficiency). Active or chronic liver dysfunction or disease. Known or suspected pregnancy.
