Indications/Uses
HTN & symptomatic heart failure. Reduction of risk of cardiac events in patients w/ history of MI &/or revascularisation.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN Adult 4 mg once daily in the morning. May be increased to 8 mg once daily after 1 mth of treatment. Patient w/ strongly activated renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system Initially 2 mg once daily. May be increased to 8 mg once daily after 1 mth of treatment. Hypertensive patient in whom diuretic cannot be discontinued Initially 2 mg once daily. Elderly Initially 2 mg once daily which may be progressively increased to 4 mg after 1 mth then 8 mg if necessary depending on renal function. Symptomatic heart failure Initially 2 mg once daily in the morning. May be increased by increments of 2 mg at intervals of not <2 wk to 4 mg once daily if tolerated. Stable CAD 4 mg once daily for 2 wk then increased to 8 mg once daily depending on renal function & provided that the 4 mg daily dose is well tolerated. Elderly 2 mg once daily for 1 wk then 4 mg once daily the next wk before increasing dose up to 8 mg once daily depending on renal function. Renal impairment: CrCl ≥60 mL/min 4 mg daily, ≥30-<60 mL/min 2 mg daily, ≥15-<30 mL/min 2 mg every other day, <15 mL/min (haemodialysed patient) 2 mg on the day of dialysis.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take before meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to perindopril erbutamine or any other ACE inhibitor. History of angioedema associated w/ previous ACE inhibitor therapy. Hereditary or idiopathic angioedema. Concomitant use w/ aliskiren-containing products in patients w/ DM or renal impairment (GFR <60 mL/min/1.73 m2); w/ sacubitril/valsartan. Extracorporeal treatments leading to contact of blood w/ -ve charged surfaces. Significant bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis of the artery to a single functioning kidney. 2nd & 3rd trimesters of pregnancy.
