Indications/Uses
Control of HTN & management of angina pectoris. Oral maintenance therapy for cardiac dysrhythmias after acute attacks has been controlled by IV therapy & for long-term prophylaxis of MI after recovery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr HTN & dysrhythmias 50-100 mg daily as a single dose. Angina 50 mg bd or 100 mg once daily. MI 50 mg PO 15 min after IV dose. Followed by further 50 mg PO 12 hr later, then 24 hr later by 100 mg PO once daily for up to 10 days. Severe renal impairment: CrCl 15-35 mL/min/1.73 m2 50 mg daily or 100 mg once every 2 days, <15 mL/min/1.73 m2 50 mg on alternate days or 100 mg once every 4 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Bronchospasm or obstructive airway disease, metabolic acidosis, sinus bradycardia, partial heart block (2nd or 3rd degree heart block). Cardiogenic shock & overt heart failure.
