Budesonide
Indications/Uses
Reduces loss of kidney function in adults w/ primary IgA nephropathy who are at risk for disease progression w/ urine protein excretion ≥1 g daily (or urine protein-to-creatinine ratio ≥0.8 g/g).
Dosage/Direction for Use
16 mg once daily. Reduce dose to 8 mg once daily for the last 2 wk when discontinuing therapy. Duration of therapy: 9 mth.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Swallow whole in the morning at least 1 hr before a meal, do not open/crush/chew.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Serious hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis w/ other budesonide formulations.
