Indications/Uses
Management of certain inflammatory eye conditions of the anterior segment (eg, acute & chronic anterior uveitis, iridocyclitis, iritis & cyclitis, herpes zoster ophthalmicus); certain external diseases (eg, phlyctenular kerato-conjunctivitis, nonpurulent conjunctivitis including vernal, allergic, catarrhal); recurrent marginal ulceration of toxic or allergic etiology; thermal & chemical burns. Reduce inflammatory reactions post-op.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Eye susp 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac. Severe or acute inflammation Use every 30-60 mins as initial therapy. Chronic inflammation Use every 3-6 hr or as frequently as necessary. Allergies or minor inflammation Use every 3-4 hr until desired response is obtained. Eye oint Apply ribbon of oint into the conjunctival sac(s) up to qds. May gradually reduce to once daily application for several days when favorable response is observed.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute untreated bacterial infections which like other diseases cause by microorganisms, may be masked or enhanced by steroid. Herpes simplex keratitis. Vaccinia, varicella & other viral infections of cornea or conjunctiva. Fungal disease of ocular structures or untreated parasitic eye infections. Mycobacterial ocular infections.
