Influenza vaccine (split virion, inactivated)
Indications/Uses
Active immunisation of adults & childn from 6 mth for prevention of influenza disease caused by 2 influenza A virus subtypes & 2 influenza B virus types.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM 0.5 mL as single dose. Childn 6 mth to <9 yr not previously vaccinated Administer a 2nd dose of 0.5 mL after an interval of at least 4 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to influenza vaccine or to any component that may be present as traces eg, eggs (ovalbumin, chicken proteins), formaldehyde, gentamicin sulphate & Na deoxycholate. Postpone in patients w/ febrile illness or acute infection.
