Cyklokapron

Haemorrhage or risk of haemorrhage in increased fibrinolysis or fibrinogenolysis. Hereditary angioneurotic oedema.

Recommended standard dose: 2-3 tab bd-tds or 5-10 mL by slow IV inj at rate of 1 mL/min. General fibrinolysis 10 mL by slow IV inj 6-8 hrly. Prostatectomy 5-10 mL by slow IV inj 6-8 hrly (1st inj given during operation) for the 1st 3 days after surgery, thereafter 2-3 tab bd-tds until macroscopic haematuria is no longer present. Haematuria 2-3 tab bd-tds until macroscopic haematuria is no longer present. Epistaxis 3 tab tds for 4-10 days or by using Cyklokapron soln for inj applied topically by soaking a gauze strip in the soln then packing the nasal cavity. Menorrhagia 2-3 tab tds-qds for 3-4 days. Conisation of cervix 3 tab tds for 12-14 days post-op. Dental extraction in patient w/ coagulopathies Pre-surgery: 10 mg/kg IV immediately pre-op. Post-surgery: 25 mg/kg orally tds-qds for 6-8 days. Hereditary angioneurotic oedema 2-3 tab bd-tds as intermittent or continuous treatment. Moderate to severe renal impairment: CrCl >500 μmol/L 7.5 mg/kg orally or 5 mg/kg IV daily, 250-500 μmol/L 15 mg/kg orally or 10 mg/kg IV daily, 120-249 μmol/L 15 mg/kg orally or 10 mg/kg IV bd.

May be taken with or without food.

Hypersensitivity. Intrathecal & epidural administration. Active thromboembolic disease (eg, DVT, pulmonary embolism & cerebral thrombosis). Subarachnoid haemorrhage.

B02AA02 - tranexamic acid ; Belongs to the class of amino acid antifibrinolytics. Used in the treatment of hemorrhage.
