Co-amoxiclav: Amoxicillin, clavulanic acid
Indications/Uses
Adult & childn w/ adequately diagnosed acute bacterial sinusitis; acute otitis media; adequately diagnosed acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis; community-acquired pneumonia; cystitis; pyelonephritis; skin & soft tissue infections in particular cellulitis, animal bites, severe dental abscess w/ spreading cellulitis; bone & joint infections, in particular osteomyelitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥40 kg Mild & moderate infections 375 mg tab tds or 625 mg tab bd. More severe infections 625 mg tab tds.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Administer w/ meal to minimise potential GI intolerance.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid & to any of the penicillins or excipients. History of severe immediate hypersensitivity reaction (eg, anaphylaxis) to another β-lactam agent (eg, cephalosporin, carbapenem or monobactam). History of jaundice/hepatic impairment due to amoxicillin/clavulanic acid.
