Indications/Uses

All clinical forms of epileptic disease & seizures in infants, childn & adults especially absence seizures including atypical absence; primary or secondarily generalised tonic-clonic, tonic or clonic seizures; partial seizures w/ elementary or complex symptomatology; various forms of myoclonic seizures, myoclonus & associated abnormal movements.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult Max initial dose: 1 mg daily. Elderly & older childn Max initial dose: 0.5 mg daily. Small childn 1-5 yr & infant Max initial dose: 0.25 mg daily. Maintenance dose ranges Adult 4-8 mg. School childn 5-12 yr 3-6 mg daily. Small childn 1-5 yr 1-3 mg daily. Infant 0-1 yr 0.5-1 mg daily.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to clonazepam & benzodiazepines. Acute pulmonary insufficiency. Severe resp insufficiency. Sleep apnoea syndrome. Myasthenia gravis. Severe hepatic insufficiency. Not to be used in patients in coma or those known to be abusing pharmaceuticals, drugs or alcohol.
