Indications/Uses
Management of allograft rejection in renal transplant patients. Adjunct to other immunosuppressive therapy to delay onset of 1st rejection episode. Moderate to severe aplastic anemia in adults & childn ≥2 yr who are unsuitable for bone marrow transplantation.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV Renal allograft rejection treatment & prophylaxis Adult 10-30 mg/kg daily. Childn 5-25 mg/kg daily. Delaying onset of allograft rejection: 15 mg/kg daily for 14 days, then every other day for 14 days for total of 21 doses in 28 days. 1st dose to be given w/in 24 hr before or after transplant. Treatment of rejection 10-15 mg/kg daily for 14 days, given at the 1st rejection episode. Additional alternate day therapy up to total of 21 doses. Aplastic anemia Adult & childn ≥2 yr Recommended total dose: 160 mg/kg, administered as part of standard immunosuppressive therapy as 16 mg/kg daily over 10 days, 20 mg/kg daily over 8 days or 40 mg/kg daily over 4 days.
Contraindications
Do not administer to patient who has had severe systemic reaction (eg, anaphylactic reaction) during prior administration of anti-thymocyte globulin (equine) or any other equine γ-globulin prep.
