Mitomycin is used during surgery for glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) to prevent scarring.
Mitomycin is to be used as topical application to the surgical site. It is not intended for direct application into the eye.
Your doctor or nurse will administer this medicine for you.
Do not use Mitomycin if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby soon. If you become pregnant while being treated with this medicine, alert your doctor immediately. Mitomycin may cause harm to your unborn child.
Inform your doctor if you have phakic lenses (eye implants that can correct short-sightedness).
Let your doctor know if you are breastfeeding.
Mitomycin may cause any of the following side effects: pain, irritation or swelling of the eyes, low eye pressure, clouding of the lens of the eye.
You may also experience some problems with your eyesight, such as blurred vision. Always keep your doctor updated of any changes in your eyesight.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Protect from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
