Prevention & treatment of reversible airways obstruction of all types including bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis & emphysema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 2-4 mg (5-10 mL). Max: 32 mg (80 mL). Childn ≥12 yr 2-4 mg (5-10 mL) cautiously increased to a max dose of 24 mg (60 mL) daily; 6-12 yr 2 mg (5 mL); 2-6 yr 1-2 mg (2.5 mL). All doses should be taken tid-qid. Elderly 2 mg (5 mL) tid-qid to be cautiously adjusted to 8 mg/dose (20 mL) if necessary.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Concomitant use w/ non-selective β-blockers eg, propranolol. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Monitor blood K level in patients taking corticosteroids, diuretics, xanthines & under digoxin therapy. Thyrotoxicosis.
Adverse Reactions
Fine tremors of skeletal muscle, palpitations & muscle cramps. Slight tachycardia, tension, peripheral vasodilation. Reversible hypokalemia & hyperglycemia.
