Doxycycline HCl
Indications/Uses
GUT, resp, surgical, skin & soft tissue, GI infections caused by sensitive organisms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult
Initially 2 cap, then 1-2 cap daily.
Childn <12 yr
100 mg bd.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take w/ full glass of water & remain upright for at least 30 min. Avoid taking w/ dairy products.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. Pregnancy. Childn <12 yr.
Special Precautions
Myasthenia gravis. Hepatic dysfunction. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
GI upsets; photosensitivity; exacerbation of existing SLE.

Drug Interactions
Increased metabolism w/ phenobarb, carbamazepine, phenytoin. Interfered bacterial action of penicillins. Concomitant use w/ anticoagulants, antacids, OCs, vit A.
