Per 5 mL Diphenhydramine HCl 12.5 mg, ammon Cl 130 mg
Indications/Uses
Relief of cough, nasal & bronchial congestion.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 5-10 mL 4-6 hrly, max 60 mL/24 hr. Childn 6-12 yr 2.5-5 mL 4-6 hrly, max 30 mL/24 hr, 2-5 yr 2.5 mL 4-6 hrly, max 15 mL/24 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
MAOIs therapy. Renal or hepatic impairment. Newborn & infants.
Special Precautions
Narrow-angle glaucoma, history of bronchial asthma, hyperthyroidism, CV disease, prostatic hypertrophy, peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal & bladder neck obstructions. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Sedation, inability to concentrate, lassitude, dizziness, hypotension, muscular weakness, incoordination. GI disturbances. Headache, blurred vision, tinnitus, elation or depression, nightmares, anorexia, micturition difficulty, dry mouth, chest tightness, tingling, heaviness & weakness of hands.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ hypnotics, sedatives & tranquilizers, MAOIs, aminoglycosides, antibiotics, antimuscarinic, alcohol.
