Per 5 mL Dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg, promethazine HCl 3.6 mg

Indications/Uses

Relief of congestion & dry irritating cough eg, those associated w/ common cold, URTI & allergic rhinitis.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL 6-8 hrly, max: 40 mL/24 hr, childn 6-12 yr 5 mL 6-8 hrly, max: 20 mL/24 hr, 2-6 yr 2.5 mL 6-8 hrly, max: 10 mL/24 hr.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hepatic disease. Childn <2 yr.

Special Precautions

Patients w/ or at risk of developing resp failure; narrow-angle glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, CV disease. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Hepatic disease. Pregnancy & lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Dizziness, drowsiness, GI disturbances, headache, blurred vision, dry mouth, urinary retention, constipation, increased gastric reflux, thickened resp tract secretion, chest tightness.

Drug Interactions

Concomitant use w/ quinidine, CNS depressants including alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, narcotic analgesics, sedatives & tranquillisers, MAOIs.
