Cefaclor monohydrate
Indications/Uses
Otitis media, upper & lower resp tract infections, UTI including pyelonephritis, cystitis, gonococcal urethritis, sinusitis, skin & soft tissue infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn 20 mg/kg daily in 3 divided doses. More serious infections, otitis media & infections caused by less susceptible organisms 40 mg/kg daily in divided doses. Max: 1 g daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to penicillins. History of GI disease especially colitis. Prolonged use. Renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions, GI disturbances, eosinophilia, blood dyscrasias, transient increased liver enzyme values, reversible interstitial nephritis, nervousness, sleep disturbances, dizziness, confusion, CNS toxicity.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ probenecid, oral anticoagulants.
