Indications and Dosage

Topical/Cutaneous
Verruca palmaris, Verruca plantaris

Adult: A 3% v/v solution or 0.75% water-miscible gel can be applied onto the affected areas.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

Sensitivity. Avoid contact with eyes, nose and mucous membranes.

Adverse Reactions

Topical: whitening and hardening of skin; contact dermatitis, sensitivity reactions. Oral: intense pain accompanied by inflammation, ulceration, necrosis of mucous membranes; vomiting, haematemesis, blood-stained diarrhoea; haematuria, anuria, metabolic acidosis, vertigo, convulsions, loss of consciousness; circulatory failure.

Drug Interactions

Formaldehyde decreases antimicrobial effects of drugs by reacting with protein.

Action

Description:
Mechanism of Action: Formaldehyde hardens the epidermis when applied to intact skin making the infected layer tough and whitish.
